I am sure many of you are feeling the impact and effects of ‘time’ as the years steadily move towards 2012. (In reality, 2012 is just a number, we are already in the midst of change). Remember the millennium scare and the Y2K? Doesn’t that seem like a year or two ago and yet here we are in 2009? I had been saying for years that we were down to eighteen hours in a day, slipping to sixteen and then twelve, and yet today if I were to say how it feels verses how time felt as a child, I would say we’re down to around ten hours in a day, verses the twenty-four we are accustomed. And you wonder why you feel tired, anxious, over-stressed, over-wrought with demands and not enough time to fill them. What this means in practical terms is what we customarily did in twenty-four hours we now manage in the compliment of ten. A comparison is what $25 represented in the pocketbook in times past, analogous to the $100 it requires today for the same service or package. It is a reflection of how we are reaching towards a crescendo of critical mass for everything to shift and literally move into the new paradigm.
We are speeding up as we reach towards a higher level of consciousness and awareness; yet we actually have the ability to really savor the day, be more fully in the present and feel the molecules in the air of suspension, if we shift our focus and awareness on how we ‘see’ life and how we participate. Let me give you an example. My family and I just spent a week at Shasta Lake in California as a gift to our two senior graduates. We took our four kids for cabin-camping on the lake. Usually those vacations just fly by and we feel as if the week never took place. Every one of us felt a shift, a suspension of time, a broadening of space, truly capturing the moments of each day and savoring them to the fullest. So what was atypical? Extraordinary? What did we do collectively to create this feeling? Good questions. |

The more I move in and out of ‘time’ from the past to the future, the farther I expand into creating new space from which to operate and participate. The key to navigation is to truly be aware and conscious of your thoughts and actions and where you place your focus. In Shasta, we took the time to enjoy our breakfast together, basking in the warm sun as it filtered through the trees onto our picnic table. We were aware (attention) of how the temperature changed during the course of the day. We let the day dictate our directions rather than dictate a set schedule allowing for more creative and physical activities. We literally just ‘sat’ and ‘were’ (remember the verb ‘to be’, in a state of being-ness, the past tense being was and past perfect being ‘were’) at peace with the moment, the hour, the morning, mid-day, the afternoon, evening. We literally stretched out the events and activities by being mindful of the other’s wishes and desires as well as voicing what was important for ourselves. No one expected anything from anyone other than fun, appreciation, thoughtfulness and ease. It was awesome. |
How does this translate into your daily life and routine to allow for more mindful prescience of the present? We are experiencing many shifts on so many levels there are days when we can’t seem to catch our breath. Creating for our-self this sense of peace, happiness and calm in a sea of chaos is the life-preserver we are seeking.
Time is an illusion that we have bought into; we then are the ones to dismantle it and reinvent a brighter approach of cashing in on the value of each moment. I haven’t worn a watch in fifteen years and yet if asked what time it is, I usually have the time within twenty minutes and more often than not, am right on the minute. We can retrain our minds, our computers. It is an example of staying alert and aware yet stepping off the treadmill. Another way is to literally ‘push time out’ energetically, by creating a circle of light around you with all the tools you need inside to accomplish your day with grace and good-natured-ness, virtually ‘making space outside’ the normal parameters of everyday thinking. You are creating a new focus with your intention expanding into the limitless-ness of the universe. Within my circle of light I have everything I need to accomplish the daily tasks and framework of requirements; it is with new awareness, quietude, calm and a step by step approach, knowing that all will be done in its perfect ‘timing’. This works really well; being imaginative and colorful in your visualizations is beneficial and a bonus. Add this to being mindful of other’s needs as well as your own, giving balance and credence to both, complimenting this with gratitude, thoughtfulness, kindness and ease and you have a fresh recipe for something sweet and well-earned. You are creating a world within a world where you have the ability to add your ingredients, taste the delights, smell the richness of pleasure and success, and touch the steady day-to-day steps of textured accomplishment. |

Taking this one step further is to really delve into the concept of the new paradigm and expanding into humanity’s consciousness and our collaborative role in correlation with the planet. The first step though begins with us and our ability to be fully conscious with our own thoughts. When we reach this next evolutionary plateau for ourselves, we then hold the space for others to emulate and expand as a whole into the greater reality. To change the world we must begin with home; re-mastering (this is not new learning but remembering) how we conceive our day. |
